Veterinary Nurse
Southeastern Guide Dogs is seeking a Veterinary Nurse to join our Barpal Veterinary Center Team!
This person is responsible for the record keeping and medical treatment of adult dogs in-for-training, puppies and breeder dogs on campus. Assistance with communications, record keeping and medical treatment of graduate dogs on an as needed basis.
Job duties include:
Under the direction of the Senior Campus Veterinarian and Veterinary Services Manager provide medical care to IFT dogs, puppies, breeding dogs and graduated dogs on an as needed basis.
Maintenance of all medical records for all responsible dogs and performs scheduled medical care.
Handle canine medical emergency situations for responsible dogs, while keeping the Chief Executive Officer, Senior Campus Veterinarian, and the Director of Training informed.
Provides on-call medical services in coordination with other team members.
In coordination with other medical team members, perform daily checks of all IFT, class dogs, breeding dogs and puppies on campus to observe medical and general health conditions.
Keep abreast of dogs on medical hold and monitors recovery.
In coordination with other medical team members, administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of the Senior Campus Veterinarian.
In coordination with other medical team members, assist with surgeries on an as needed basis.
Assists in the basic veterinary education of students, puppy raisers, graduates and as needed of fellow employees.
Maintenance of all medical records for all responsible dogs and performs scheduled medical care.
Qualified candidates will posses the following:
Demonstrated ability to perform canine health care required
Education and/or experience as Veterinary Technician preferred
Computer literacy needed.
Valid driver's license required with good driving history.
Ability to effectively communicate with health care professionals and the general public required.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
