Nissan created the Figaro in 1991 and only produced it for one year.
Created for the Japanese market to be another option in addition to the kei-car segment, just a tab larger and a bit more power than this segment allows.
While most kei-cars were boring econoboxes, the Nissan Figaro being a completely different vehicle was an excellent alternative to the small car class.
It was designed to have fun while driving to your next destination.
Nissan made it for the customers who didn't want to drive boring cars.
It is a 4 cylinder turbo that could fit in the kei-car regulations and created a culture.
The 1991 Nissan Figaro is a 2 door convertible/cabriolet-bodied car with an inline 4-cylinder turbo motor powering the front wheels.
Its 1-liter engine is peppy with a single overhead camshaft.
The 4-cylinder unit develops 76hp at 6000 rpm.
The engine transfers its power through to the front wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission.
The Nissan Figaro weighs a claimed 1786 lbs and able to attain a top speed of 103 mph making it cute and nimble.
